Allison Stokke and Alyce Caron
Allison Stokke was born March 22nd, 1989 at Newport Beach California United States. Stokke is one of the most famous and wealthy Pole Vaulters. She became a pole jumper in 2007 after a picture of her at her track event was posted at the age of 17. She has gained a huge fan base on social media sites like Instagram as well as Twitter. She is well known for her track and field performance, like Jessica Ennis Hill. The Los Angeles Times, among other newspapers, reported that Stokke did not seek or supported the kind of publicity. Brett Hutchins and David Rowe in Technology Power and Culture in the Network Society compared Stokke's circumstance with that of American female soccer players Alex Morgan and Hope Solo. They claimed that their sports achievements were discredited due to the sexualization and fetishization which was applied to their images. Stokke was also a target of insulting social media remarks, and the authors blamed this sexualization process entirely on the women. Many others made parallels to Brandi Chastain's joy at her victory at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup Final in her sports bra. Women's sports events were often dominated by the discussion of their appearance. Stokke was photographed at New York by a Californian reporter for an online track and events website at the beginning of 2007. With Leather sports blog, which has an enormous male audience posted the photo in May. It was called Pole Vaulting is Almost Legal and also commented on Stokke's sexiness. Matt Ufford threatened to file lawsuit against the photographer, if that image was not taken down. The post and its images were gaining lots of attention. Stokke owned a website dedicated to her with images of her at the pole vault. As these photos spread across social media, they were viewed by many thousands of people.
