Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born in South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. She has a mother who is English and her father is Nigerian. Her family was raised in a south London council estate, and went to The Brit School at age 14. In London, she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where her acting certificate was earned. She performed in various performances on stage during her time at school, including King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe's acting journey began in the series Storm Damage. Since then she has appeared in Teachers and Doctors. Madekwe's first film role was Woody Allen's 2007 Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. Then, she was the lead in Elisha, the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In addition, she appeared as Ollie in six episodes each from Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In 2008 she landed Bambi's role on ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The actress was on two series, 2 and 3. Madekwe played the lead role for How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedic comedy that was released in 2008. Her credits in theatre comprise Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams as well as Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe had her official US debut in the 2009 drama series The Beautiful Life, which was only broadcast in the US on The CW before being cancelled. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. Madekwe was a regular in the drama series on ABC Revenge during two seasons. It was revealed in May 2013 that she would be leaving the series following a guest episode in the first series of the 3rd. She starred as Tituba in the TV show Salem between 2014 and 2016. Madekwe, her longtime partner, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They have worked together in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he was a character on the show Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Her family included her parents Roy and Patty together with four of their older brothers: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's athletic brothers played baseball during summers as well as hockey in winter. Ashley was unable to walk, but was able to dance. In the end, when she turned 2 when she was two, she began to learn about Baby Ballet. That was the start of Ashley's passion for dance. Ashley competed in top-level divisions of tap, jazz ballet, hip hop, the lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe, until she finished high school. Ashley took home the best soloist award at every major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among the few.
